Fair Usage Policy
Version 1.0 · effective 23 September 2026 · last reviewed 23 September 2026
In short
The Unlimited plan (£17.99/month) removes study credits entirely — there's no metering and no overage charges. To keep Revisebase fast and fair for everyone, two daily caps apply: 8 Deep Research lesson stages per day and 25 web-backed operations per day (URL/YouTube processing and originality checks). Everything else — quizzes, flashcards, standard lessons and the AI tutor — is uncapped. If you hit a cap, that one feature simply pauses until it resets the next day; nothing is charged and nothing is lost.

Fair Usage Policy
This policy explains how "unlimited" works on the Revisebase Unlimited plan. In short: you can study as much as you like, with no study credits and no surprise charges. A couple of our most expensive features have a simple daily limit so the app stays fast and fair for everyone.
We've written this in plain English because many of our users are students aged 13 and over. If anything here isn't clear, please get in touch through the Contact page in the app.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to subscribers on the Unlimited plan (£17.99/month).
- On Core (free, 50 credits per week) and Scholar (£8.99/month, 150 credits per week), your usage is governed by study credits, not by this policy.
- On Unlimited, there are no study credits at all — nothing is metered and there are no overage charges. Instead, your usage is governed by this Fair Usage Policy.
This policy sits alongside our Terms & Conditions and our Acceptable Use Policy.
Why we have fair-use caps
Most of what you do on Revisebase costs us roughly the same however much you use it. But two kinds of feature are different: they rely on expensive third-party AI and web-retrieval services every single time they run.
If a small number of accounts used those features non-stop, the app would get slower and more expensive for everyone else. Daily caps are our way of keeping things:
- Fast — so lessons and checks don't crawl at busy times like exam season.
- Fair — so one account can't soak up capacity that other students need.
- Sustainable — so we can keep offering a genuinely unlimited plan at a fixed price.
The daily caps
Two daily operational caps apply to Unlimited. Both reset automatically every day.
| Feature | Daily cap (Unlimited) | | --- | --- | | Deep Research lesson stages | 8 per day | | Web-backed operations (URL/YouTube processing, originality checks) | 25 per day |
In plain sentences:
- Deep Research lessons are our premium lesson mode, where the AI researches beyond your own uploaded notes. You can run up to 8 Deep Research stages per day. A lesson is typically 4–6 stages, so that's roughly two full Deep Research lessons a day.
- Web-backed operations cover turning a URL or a YouTube link into study material, and running originality checks. You can run up to 25 of these per day in total.
Everything else is uncapped. Quizzes, flashcards, standard lessons built from your own notes and documents, and the AI study tutor all have no caps on the Unlimited plan. Revise as much as you want.
What happens when you hit a cap
Hitting a cap is not a penalty and nothing goes wrong. It simply pauses that one feature until the cap resets the next day.
- Nothing is charged. There are no overage fees on Unlimited, ever.
- Nothing is lost. Your work, notes, lessons, decks and progress stay exactly where they are and are not deleted.
- Other features keep working. If you've used up your Deep Research stages, you can still make quizzes and flashcards, run standard lessons and chat with the AI tutor as normal. The two caps are separate from each other.
- It resets automatically. You don't need to do anything or contact us — the cap clears on its own the next day.
What is not fair use
Fair use means using Revisebase as a student, for your own studying. The following are not permitted:
- Automated or scripted access — using bots, scripts or other tools to drive the app rather than using it yourself.
- Account sharing — sharing your login so several people can study on one subscription.
- Reselling access — selling, renting or otherwise passing on access to Revisebase or its outputs as a service.
- Circumventing the caps — creating multiple accounts, or using any other workaround, to get around the daily limits.
Our Acceptable Use Policy also sets out wider rules about what you can and can't do on Revisebase, including academic honesty and prohibited content. Both apply to you.
How we monitor and enforce
We keep an eye on usage so we can apply the caps and spot behaviour that breaks this policy. Where we find abuse, we may throttle, suspend or terminate the account in line with our Acceptable Use Policy. If we ever need to act on your account, we'll explain why and, wherever possible, give you a chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
We may adjust the daily caps as our costs and technology change, and we may make other updates to this policy over time. We'll give reasonable notice of any material change, following the process described in our Terms & Conditions. The version number and dates at the top of this page always show the current version and when it was last reviewed.
