Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0 · effective 18 September 2026 · last reviewed 18 September 2026 · next review 18 September 2027

In short

  • Don't use ReviseBase for anything illegal, harmful, pornographic or abusive — including harassment in public reviews.
  • Don't attack the service: no malware, credential theft, scraping, reverse engineering, or trying to reach another user's data.
  • Don't try to manipulate the AI (prompt injection) or use it to produce prohibited content.
  • Don't upload other people's private or confidential information without permission.
  • Don't dodge plan limits or use multiple accounts to get around restrictions.
  • Check your school or exam board's rules before using AI for assessed work — misuse is on you.
  • Report problems via the report option or contact page. Breaking this policy can lead to content removal, feature limits or account suspension.

Read the full policy below.

This Acceptable Use Policy forms part of our Terms & Conditions. Breaking it can lead to content removal, account restriction or suspension.

1. Illegal activity and harmful content

Do not use ReviseBase to upload, paste, post, link to or distribute content that:

  • is illegal in the UK, or unlawful where you are;
  • is pornographic, or promotes violence, terrorism, hatred or the sexual exploitation or abuse of children;
  • harasses, defames, bullies or endangers anyone — including in public reviews;
  • is dishonestly obtained or designed to enable any of the above.

2. System abuse and security

Do not:

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, data or systems, or steal or guess other users' credentials;
  • attempt to access, view or modify another user's data or account;
  • upload malware or malicious files, or content designed to attack, overload or disrupt our systems;
  • run scrapers, bots or automated systems that place unreasonable load on the Service;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or probe the Service beyond normal use to find security weaknesses to exploit;
  • bypass usage limits, plan restrictions or other technical protections (including multiple accounts to dodge free limits).

3. Prompt injection and AI abuse

Do not:

  • craft uploads, prompts or file contents designed to hijack, manipulate or override our AI instructions (prompt injection) or to make the AI produce prohibited content;
  • use the AI to generate illegal, harmful or abusive material, or to attack or profile other people;
  • upload material containing other people's private or confidential information (e.g. classmates' details, staff documents) without their permission.

4. Privacy violations

Do not upload documents containing other people's personal data unless you have permission, and do not use any feature to expose, deanonymise or harass another person. See the Privacy Policy.

5. Academic misconduct

Do not use ReviseBase to complete assessed work where your school, college, university or exam board does not allow it, or to present AI-generated material as your own assessed work. ReviseBase is for learning and revision — check your institution's rules on AI use.

6. Reporting and enforcement

If you see content on the Service that breaks these rules — for example, a public review — report it via the report option or our contact page. We review reports and act as needed, and may:

  • remove or restrict content;
  • warn you or restrict your account features;
  • suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated breaches (no refund owed where justified);
  • report serious illegal content to the authorities where the law requires.

Enforcement is proportionate to the breach. If you believe we got it wrong, appeal via the contact page — a different person reviews appeals.
